A grassroots gathering
The Patagonia Snow Tour is all about celebrating all things snow, bringing together the people who make winter the best season. It’s a gathering of the snow-sliding community in this mountain town that we call home – stopping in Queenstown on 8 August and Wānaka on 7 August.
Patagonia ambassador Nicholas Wolken will be there for the special screenings of Simple as a Turn and DIG followed by live Q&A’s. Dr Todd Redpath will also be speaking about our changing winters, what we understand to be happening to in the Southern Alps, and the work of Protect Our Winters Aotearoa.
In addition to the screenings, the team will stop by Remarkables Ski Field, hanging out on the snow between 10am – 2pm on 8 August, doing small repairs to keep your gear in play, and putting on some grub for the first 100 attendees. Wolken will also be joining in for the day, so swing by for a hello and some party laps!
The tour is all about bringing people together – it’s grassroots and community-focus means celebrating the connection between people, mountains and the environments we love.
It’s a community, family-friendly event with tickets by donation to Protect Our Winters Aotearoa. Protect Our Winters are a community of groups and people that are taking action to advocate for policy solutions to climate change. They’re working towards a thriving future for our whenua (land), hapori (communities), and maunga (mountains). They focus on education, community engagement and advocacy.
