Queenstown tourism legend Fae Robertson is the guest on this week's Outlet Podcast, looking back on her 65 years in the industry.

Raised in Invercargill, Fae moved to the resort town in 1957, before becoming a travel consultant while still a teenager. She talks to host Brent Harbour about the early days of tourism in New Zealand, securing apprenticeships and learning on the job, reflecting a bygone era of personal connections and manual processes that laid the foundation for today's hospitality industry. Fae also discusses her contribution to the town's fabric through community work, including more than 30 years with Victim Support.

The Outlet is supported by the New Zealand Public Interest Journalism Fund.
