Sustainable Queenstown - Green Drinks
Local charity, Sustainable Queenstown, has announced this month’s Green Drinks event. It’s all about Healthy Homes That Don’t Cost The Earth.
The month’s event will focus on simple and affordable ways to make a standard Queenstown house more energy efficient, warmer, and healthier to live in – what will our experts suggest is the best bang for buck if you have $5k or $10k to do this?
“We’ve got some of the best people in the biz to talk to us about what we can do in our home to make it a healthier place to live AND keep those energy bills down (hello winter in Queenstown!)” said Jess Larmont from Sustainable Queenstown.
Speaker, Matthew Cutler-Welsh from the NZ Green Building Council, will share 15 years of experience leading residential energy efficiency projects and education programmes in Aotearoa and Australia.
Jessica Eyers, who designed her family’s home in Wānaka - NZ’s first strawbale home to gain Passive House certification, will share her passion for thermal design and performance, and ensuring all homes are healthy and comfortable.
The evening will be facilitated by Arthur Lee, a local Architectural Designer + Certified Passive House Consultant for Respond Architects.
“This event is perfect for those of us who aren’t planning on building a new, high-performance house, and rather live in existing homes and want to make a difference to our quality of living space while reducing our energy bill,” said Jess.
Tickets for the event are available for $5 on Humanitix, and there will be time for a panel discussion and Q&A with the speakers.
Green Drinks takes place from 6.30pm Thursday 18th May at Sudima Hotel in 5 Mile.
