The highly anticipated Wakatipu Plunket Garden Tour is returning on Saturday, 21 November, offering a rare and exclusive opportunity to explore a diverse range of spectacular, private local gardens across the basin. From hidden residential gems to expansive landscaped properties, this self-drive tour is a highlight on the local calendar for green thumbs and community-minded residents alike.

Organised entirely by a small, dedicated team of local volunteers, this signature annual event serves as a major fundraiser for Whānau Āwhina Plunket. Raising funds locally has never been more important; every dollar generated from the tour will remain right here in our community, directly supporting the health, development, and wellbeing of local young families, tamariki, and parents.

The day’s journey begins at 10am at the Arrowtown Lifestyle Village. Upon arrival, participants will collect their essential physical tour maps, take the opportunity to explore the village’s own beautifully curated grounds, and enjoy a delicious morning tea before setting off on their garden-hopping adventure at their own pace.

A new addition of the tour is a fundraising plant stall, which will be hosted at one of the feature gardens. Stocked with a wonderful selection of locally propagated plants, it is the perfect place to pick up some healthy greenery to replicate the inspiring landscaping seen throughout the day.

Adding to the day’s excitement is an extraordinary multi-draw raffle, which has received phenomenal backing from local businesses. Thanks to their immense generosity, the prize pool has grown to a spectacular combined value of $6,640. For just $20, ticket holders will be entered into 23 separate draws, giving everyone an incredible chance to walk away with premium local experiences, vouchers, or goods. These raffle tickets will be available to purchase on the morning of the tour exclusively at the Arrowtown Lifestyle Village starting point.

Main event entry tickets are $45 per person and must be purchased online in advance via Humanitix. Because ticket numbers are strictly limited to ensure a quality experience at each property, organizers advise booking quickly before they sell out.

The committee is also calling on the community for a helping hand on the day. They are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to act as Garden Ambassadors to meet, greet, and assist guests at the various properties. If you love gardens and want to support a fantastic cause, please contact the team at gardentourplunketqt@gmail.com for more information.
