QLDC Winter Road Report - 30 May, 2025

Hello stranger

This is not a drill, repeat - not a drill!

There are snowfall warnings today for the Crown Range Road (from 10am-9pm) and Lindis Pass (from 1pm,-10pm). Up to 2cm may accumulate above 700m.

Our on-site crews have little to report at this stage. Wet/dry roads through the Cardrona Valley, and dry over the top of Crown Range Road with mild temperatures.

They'll continue to monitor throughout the day and we'll update our Facebook page accordingly. But the advice for now is to put snow chains in your boot.

Further reports on Saturday or Sunday depend on the forecast conditions. If there isn't one in your inbox by 7am then we haven't sent one and you should be all good. But please check the forecast and always drive to the conditions which can change quickly in our alpine environment.

We were due to start these reports on Monday with 'Dad Joke' Dan, but the weather gods obviously knew it was my week on call. I mean it's not even officially winter until Sunday - sheesh!

But we're here to serve.

Remember we only send one email per day. Any further updates about road/weather conditions will be posted on our Facebook page. If required, we'll also send out a text message to everyone who's subscribed to our community text alert service. Find out more here.

If you spot any other issues on the road today, please give us a call on 03 441 0499.

Ngā mihi,
Sam
