Sad end to search
Police searching for missing hunter Murray Horsfield found a body on Sunday, above the Dart River, north of Glenorchy.
The experienced Central Otago-based hunter was last heard from on Sunday, 12 February, when he was hunting in the Dart River catchment.
Police, LandSAR volunteers, the Department of Conservation, Mr Horsfield’s Australian Army colleagues and his friends and family spent six days searching for him, including through steep and challenging terrain. Formal identification is yet to take place.
“We would like to thank everyone who has taken part in the search and who has provided information to the enquiry team,” a police spokesperson said.
“Police extend their deepest sympathies to Mr Horsfield’s family.”
