Robinson breaks with head coach

Queenstown alpine ski racing star Alice Robinson has split with her head coach Chris Knight ahead of the 2023/2024 season.
Kiwi-born Knight has been Robinson's coach for the last four World Cup seasons, coaching her to three World Cup victories, and previous to that was a mentor and advisor to her and her team over her earlier formative teenage years.
He's also has been front and centre in the Women’s Alpine World Cup tour for over two decades, including being directly involved for several years with US Alpine superstar Lindsey Vonn previous to Robinson.
The split is an amicably end their partnership, according to Snow Sports NZ.
Knight says he's immensely enjoyed his time working with Robinson, but is looking forward to spending more time at home with his family, including his two young children.
Queenstown Winter Olympian Tim Cafe has been appointed to her coaching team. Cafe was Robinson’s coach through her teenage years, including when she burst onto the world stage with a victory in the FIS World Junior World Ski Championships in 2019.
"Snow Sports NZ would like to thank Chris, not only for his recent coaching stint with Robinson, but for everything he has done to foster competitive alpine ski racing in New Zealand and overseas," Nic Cavanagh, Snow Sports NZ CEO, says.
While this signals the end of Knight's formal coaching relationship with Robinson, he'll continue to be involved with Snow Sports NZ.
