The full marathon starts out at Millbrook, near Arrowtown

A record number of runners will run the full 42km distance at the Queenstown Marathon next month.

The event, now in its tenth year, takes place on Saturday, 16 November. Thousands of runners will tackle one of the four distances; the marathon, the half marathon, 10km and Kids Run. They include 40 'Founding Runners', who've taken part every year since the first in 2014.

There are still places available to run on the day, which provides a huge economic boost to the town.

Queenstown Marathon regional director Amy MacCormack says: "The draw of the Queenstown Lakes District remains as strong as ever, with runners and walkers of all ages and abilities set to take part and experience the stunning trails and beautiful backdrop this region provides.

"With just one month to go until the return of the New Zealand Sotheby’s International Realty Queenstown Marathon presented by ASICS, now is the perfect time to sign up and join thousands of others on the start line.”
