Queenstown Lakes District Council (QLDC) has lifted water restrictions across the district.

The restrictions, which banned sprinklers anytime other than midnight to 6am and discouraged hand watering, had been in place since 9 January, for exactly one month.

"QLDC would like to thank residents and visitors for their efforts in reducing water usage," council spokesperson Sam White said.

"However, with the weather remaining hot and dry it is still very important to conserve water where possible. There are many ways to do this, including using timers for sprinklers to ensure irrigation occurs between midnight and 6am when demand is low."

A full list of water conservation ideas can be found on the council's website
