Queenstown Trails backed by new sponsor

Not-for-profit Queenstown Trails has a new corporate sponsor to help it continue to develop the town's world-class trail network.
Luxury Real Estate New Zealand is backing the organisation's trail and conservation work going forward.
Queenstown Trails boss Mark ‘Willy’ Williams says he's delighted to have the locally-owned and operated real estate brand on board.
"The expansion of the Queenstown Trails relies on a unique mix of generous individual supporters, business partnerships, grants, and both local and central government funding," Williams says.
"Corporate Sponsorship provides local businesses with an impactful way to strategically contribute financial resources, leaving a lasting legacy for current and future trail users."
Following the successful openings of both the Wharehuanui and Shotover Gorge trails, the Queenstown Trail network now boasts over 200km of trails, ranging from commuter paths to backcountry loops.
Looking ahead, Queenstown Trails plans to enhance the network through improved trail infrastructure - such as shelters, water stations, and rest areas - as well as plans for extending trails to 12 Mile, and further around Lake Whakatipu to Glenorchy.
The partnerships offer local businesses a way to align their CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) strategies with initiatives that directly support the region, says Queenstown Trails Partnership Manager Emily O’Leary.
That includes conservation work, she says.
"The conservation outcomes enabled by the trail network are profound," says O’Leary. "They provide critical access for trapping, planting, invasive species control, and waterway restoration—helping people experience our natural environment and fostering a deep sense of guardianship, or kaitiakitanga."
Nick Horton, Director of Luxury Real Estate New Zealand, says it's a privilege to support an initiative that "genuinely enriches our community".
"We’re incredibly proud to be partnering with the Queenstown Trails Trust. The trail network adds immense value to our region, both in terms of encouraging people to get outside and explore and also in promoting sustainable transport options."
Co-director, Terry Spice, says many of the properties the company represents are directly connected to or neighbouring these iconic trails.
"We’ve seen first-hand the appeal they hold for people investing in the area. The trails aren’t just a lifestyle asset – they’re a genuine drawcard for the region. Our team are all keen trail users, so it’s a partnership that resonates with us both professionally and personally”.
