Queenstown police have arrested a man over an alleged wounding in the early hours of yesterday.

Officers had appealed for the public's help to identify someone they wanted to speak to in relation to the violent assault, in a Church Street bar shortly after midnight.

The victim received a laceration to his neck and required medical treatment.

Police released a CCTV picture of a man they wanted to trace and thanks to the appeal, he has now been located.

Detective Sergeant Miriam Chittenden said: "We would like to thank the members of the public who recognised him from the Facebook post made by Police yesterday.

A man will be appearing in the Queenstown District Count on Monday, 27 March, in relation to this matter.
