On this week's Outlet Podcast, dive into the exhilarating world of adventure racing with Andy Magness, and the upcoming Southland race featuring 40+ teams worldwide.

Andy shares his inspiring journey from alpinism to becoming a key figure in the endurance racing scene. His passion for adventure racing was ignited by the legendary Eco Challenge of the 90s, which he watched with his brother Jason.

Their shared enthusiasm led them to participate in their first major race, Primal Quest, a gruelling 10-day event that tested their limits and solidified their love for the sport.

This experience set the stage for the creation of the Magnificent Adventure Race, an event that aims to reconnect New Zealand's adventure racing community with the international circuit.

The four-day race, which will be held in late January, is designed to incorporate the stunning landscapes and culture of Southland and Otago, and promises to be a thrilling showcase of endurance and skill. Andy's goal is to integrate the Adventure Racing World Series, offering a new and novel race experience every year, thereby keeping the competition fresh and exciting for participants
