Ninth place for Robinson at Super G World Cup
Queenstown ski racer Alice Robinson has finished in ninth place at FIS Super G World Cup held in Norway overnight.
The race was the second Super G World Cup to be held on this slope in as many days. Fog rolled in and out of the Norwegian valley, causing significant delays, including a lengthy course hold before Robinson’s run. This coupled with the flat light and warmer temperatures made for challenging race conditions.
Robinson, 22, in bib 4, pushed hard out of the start gate hunting for every ounce of speed through the top section of the course. The turny course set suited Robinson, a Giant Slalom specialist, and she attacked the course with her trademark aggressive and dynamic skiing.
She put down a solid top to bottom run to finish in ninth position, backing up her 14th place finish from yesterday’s Super G World Cup race.
Italian ski racer Federica Brignone took the win today, with yesterday’s winner Lara Gut-Behrami of Switzerland finishing in second place. Czech athlete Ester Ledecka rounded out the podium in third.
This marked the final race of the regular 2024 Super G World Cup season, with the World Cup finals set to be held in Austria later this month.
Robinson will be back on her tech skis next weekend at the Giant Slalom World Cup race in Are, Sweden.
