New GM for Ignite Wānaka Chamber of Commerce
Ignite Wānaka Chamber of Commerce board has announced the appointment of experienced hospitality business leader Glenn Peat as General Manager.
A 30-year veteran of the hospitality industry and a Wānaka resident since 2018, Peat was appointed to the role just before Christmas.
He has national and international experience in leading premium hotel brands, as well as launching new hospitality brands in challenging markets and developing business opportunities for local communities.
Peat will balance the part-time GM role at Ignite Wānaka with his existing position as group general manager for Taco Medic International. He will work alongside Ignite Wānaka administration and events coordinator Rachelle Blatch.
Ignite Wānaka board chair Jo Learmonth says: "We are delighted to have someone of Glenn’s calibre take on this role to help the board refine and deliver its strategy to support the local business community. Our shared goal is to provide opportunities for business growth and success, through strong advocacy, training and networking.
"We are excited about our plans for 2023 and look forward to having Glenn become a recognised face within our business community.”
Peat says the opportunity to create positive change appealed to him when applying for the GM role.
"The Wānaka business community has an incredible amount to offer with an engaged and highly experienced group of members, creating a wealth of opportunities for us to grow and thrive together. I am looking forward to helping the region realise these opportunities for the benefit of everyone.
"I am enthusiastic about what this year will bring and appreciate the opportunity to represent the Wānaka business community. I look forward to working with all our members in 2023."
