Nairobi Trio: A musical journey across New Zealand
The Nairobi Trio is revisiting the South Island after several years away from the regional stage, the trio - hailing from the eclectic Auckland neighbourhoods of Grey Lynn, Ponsonby, and Waiheke Island - returns to share their infectious energy and rich musical legacy.
With 10 albums and over 35 years of national and international touring experience, the Nairobi Trio is not just a band; they are a beloved staple of New Zealand’s musical landscape. Throughout 2023 and 2024, the trio has been reconnecting with fans across the Motu, reigniting the spark of live performance that has defined their career.
Often dubbed New Zealand’s favourite “Jazz Entertainers,” the Nairobi Trio has played in a diverse array of venues—from quaint village halls and picturesque vineyards to grand theatres and festivals. Their extensive touring resume boasts 20 international trips, with performances at iconic locations such as Raffles Hotel in Singapore and festival stages across the UK, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Italy, and France.
What sets the Nairobi Trio apart is their ability to engage audiences through a dynamic live show that blends skilfully crafted original material with jazz-infused melodies and Celtic influences. Each performance is a vibrant travelogue of Aotearoa, featuring reimagined jazz standards alongside popular repertoire that keeps crowds on their feet.
During October, the Nairobi Trio is ready to remind fans just why they have earned their status as a national treasure. Don’t miss the chance to experience their unique blend of talent and charm with two performances in Queenstown that promises to be unforgettable!
