Here's the info from the team behind the sensory sensation, (or read our story on Luma 2023):
LUMA is back. Queenstown Gardens. JUNE 1-5, 2023. King’s Birthday Weekend.
Limited tickets per night - book yours early to get your preferred slot.
When it began in 2016 LUMA demonstrated how an otherwise quiet weekend at the start of winter can come alive and bring the Southern Lakes to life with a celebration of arts, culture and performance in our unique alpine landscape.
Since then, LUMA has grown, evolved and emerged as a bright milestone on the New Zealand events calendar.
This year we're back in our natural habitat for the latest instalment of our annual take-over of the Queenstown Gardens. Kicking off winter in style, this is one event you won’t want to miss.
After a hugely successful LUMA21 we return for a unique celebration of our alpine nightscape, including live music, illuminated art, sculpture, sonic environments, interactive performance, local eats and plenty of unexpected moments at every turn.
Despite being disrupted twice by the pandemic, the creative collective behind LUMA have continued to switch on Winter for the last seven years. In 2020 and 2022, we delivered an urban alternative event called LUMIFY which was designed to keep the concept growing and support our local community whilst working with some of our favourite people in the NZ festival tribe.
LUMA23 has been a long time in the making and we’re excited to share the journey over five nights from the start of June here in the deep, dark south.
