HackOff 2024 brings together awesome chefs from Queenstown to battle their Wānaka counterparts with the sole aim to save you food and money.

KiwiHarvest, the local food rescue charity, in association with QLDC’s Waste Minimisation Fund have created the campaign to enable people to maximise the food they already have and may end up throwing out.

Two teams of three chefs from each side of the hill are presented with normal household food that can get wasted, like excess greens, leftover fruit from kids’ lunchboxes and excess bread and they then must demonstrate a hack to extend the life of the item and cook up a delicious meal incorporating it.

The 6 great chefs – three from Queenstown and three from Wanaka are the central figures of battle and there are great Q&A and tips from each one of them on the website.

You can watch all six short fun videos of the chefs battling it out and download a free eBook containing all the hacks and recipes including bonus unseen ones on KiwiHarvest’s website: www.kiwiharvest.org.nz/hackoff

Everyone who downloads the free PDF is also in the draw to win a Mooch Food preservation hamper.

Representing Queenstown in this battle royal is Ainsley Rose Thompson or Chef Ainsley ‘Gravy Train’, Alvaro Morales from Crowne Plaza and Matteo Lauricella from The Millhouse so make sure to vote for Team Queenstown as the winners on the KiwiHarvest website so they can be crowned Hack Off Champions 2024!

The campaign runs from May 27 through to June 14.
