Dr Compost’s gardening and compost workshops are back in Queenstown 12th &19th February, and in Wānaka 16th & 23rd February. For tickets, search Dr Compost on Humanitix.com.

Funded by the Queenstown Lakes District Council and delivered by Wastebusters, the workshops are offered completely free of charge. They have proven popular with gardeners interested in growing food, as well as residents seeking an alternative method for managing food scraps, thereby addressing issues such as unpleasant odours from kerbside rubbish bins.

Hāwea local Dr. Compost (Ben Elms) has been an expert grower and composter in our distinctive climate for over 20 years. Ben has shared his passion through engaging and informative workshops, offering tried-and-tested advice. "Whether you're looking to kickstart your backyard veggie garden, get your compost thriving, or are just beginning, these workshops are perfectly suited for you," he explains.

Although attendees have the option of attending either the ‘Growing Winter Veggies’ or ‘Easy Home Composting’ workshop, it is highly recommended that both be attended to for maximum benefit and opportunity for all questions answered.

Workshops cover veggie growing from sowing to harvest, what and when to grow, and the magic of compost. Healthy soil grows healthy plants, and composting kitchen and garden waste is a great way to feed your soil and reduce waste. Learn three easy composting methods—traditional (hot/cold), Bokashi bins, and worm farms—in "Easy Ways to Compost." Discover the best method for you or your workplace and get fail-safe tips

The Dr Compost home-composting project is funded by Queenstown Lakes District Council and delivered by Wastebusters to reduce organic waste in landfill.

Secure your spot at these fun and informative workshops by getting your free ticket from the Dr Compost Facebook page or search ‘Dr Compost’ at Humanitix.com.
