Glorious day out at the 108th show
Town and country came together for the 108th time at the Lake Hayes A&P Show on Saturday.
"It was glorious," A&P Society president Kate Hamilton says. "We believe we had about 5000 people through the gates. It was up there with one of the best years for home industries entries, and we had spectacular equestrian events, with 60+ beautiful horses, especially the Supreme winner Trevalda Dancer.
"The rides, face-painting, magician and, of course, the hobby horse race were a hit with the kids, and one of the big highlights of the show was having Matt Chisholm on board, to speak about mental health."
Rural Support Trust ambassador Chisholm - ex Celebrity Treasure Island TV frontman-turned farmer, addressed the crowds from the stage and chatted with people around the Lake Hayes Pavilion showgrounds throughout the day.
"It resonated with a lot of people, not just those in the rural sector who might be struggling, and that is invaluable."
Hamilton says the committee is always looking for new members.
"There's about 20 of us, a really good bunch of people, and we're proud of what we've achieved and created for the community out of our own time."
