Queenstown will sparkle brighter than ever on Saturday, 31 October, as the Bhartiya Samaj Queenstown Charitable Trust hosts the annual Diwali – Festival of Lights. More than a festival, this is a celebration of togetherness - bringing people, cultures and communities together.

This free community celebration unites locals and visitors in the universal themes of Diwali: the triumph of light over darkness and the power of connection. What began as a small gathering of Indian families has grown into one of Queenstown’s most anticipated multicultural events.

Sustainability at the Heart
Organisers have worked hard to make the festival as gentle on the environment as it is joyful for the spirit. Initiatives such as reusable serving ware, comprehensive recycling stations, and careful vendor guidelines have significantly reduced waste.

Celebrating Community and Culture
The Trust remains committed to bringing joy, colour, and a sense of belonging to Queenstown’s Indian community while inviting the wider region to share in the experience. Visitors can expect breathtaking classical and contemporary cultural performances, as well as music and entertainment, vibrant art, and an array of aromatic dishes. Children’s activities add to the family-friendly atmosphere.

About Bhartiya Samaj Queenstown
Bhartiya Samaj Queenstown is a registered charitable organisation dedicated to supporting Indian residents and enriching the cultural fabric of the Southern Lakes. Everyone – whether of Indian heritage or simply curious to experience the magic of Diwali – is invited to join this landmark celebration of light, sustainability, and community spirit.
