Sharon Fifield, left, with former Chamber CEO Ruth Stokes

Acting Queenstown Chamber of Commerce chief executive Sharon Fifield has been appointed to the role on a permanent basis.

Chamber board chair Angela Spackman told members Fifield has accepted the board's offer, three months after replacing Ruth Stokes as CEO.

"The Board have been impressed with how Sharon has led the Chamber through the last few months and can see a great future with her as our CEO," Spackman says.

"Sharon has shown to have excellent relationships with key stakeholders and is well respected among our business community. We have been particularly pleased with her advocacy work with both local and national government representatives."

Fifield joined the Chamber in November 2022 as Head of Business Growth, after three-and-a-half years as Senior Economic Development Advisor at Queenstown Lakes District Council.

A month into the new role, she agreed to step up as Acting CEO after Stokes announced she was leaving to pursue other interests.

"This appointment allows stability and surety to our small but powerful team at Queenstown Business as they continue to provide our membership with many great events, training, and networking opportunities," Spackman says.

"We look forward to seeing Sharon flourish in the role."
