Did it involve a firearm?

Police have refused to be drawn on whether the man found with serious injuries at Moke Lake turnoff last week had been shot.

Lakes Weekly asked the police media team directly whether last Sunday's incident involved a firearm, following rumours and public concern around the town and on social media.

The man was found with “unexplained injuries” on Glenorchy Road about 6.15pm and police speculated he may have been injured earlier in a different location. He was airlifted to Dunedin Hospital, later transferred to Christchurch Hospital

Asked about the rumours of a firearm being involved, a police spokesperson says: "As enquiries into the matter are ongoing, we don’t have any updates to the investigation."

Police say they've had a great public response to an appeal for dashcam footage or CCTV on the Glenorchy-Queenstown Road but they still want more.

Anyone with footage from the road or Moke Lake area, from 9am to 6pm on Sunday, 14 September, should contact police via 105, quoting file number 250915/1658.
