Aurora Energy opens new office in Queenstown
Electricity lines company Aurora Energy has opened a satellite office in Queenstown, strengthening its presence in one of New Zealand’s fastest-growing regions.
“Queenstown continues to experience rapid growth, and demand for electricity connections continues to increase. Establishing an office here is a natural next step for Aurora Energy,” said Chief Executive Richard Fletcher.
“We’re committed to supporting Queenstown’s economic growth and its ambition to become a carbon-zero visitor destination. Having a local base means we can stay close to our current and future customers, key stakeholders, and the local community,” he said.
The Queenstown office will also support Aurora Energy’s involvement in innovative projects, including a vehicle-to-grid pilot, investigations into community energy resilience, and making sure rooftop solar, batteries and other smart technologies can be integrated into their electricity distribution network. The company is also involved in significant transmission upgrades planned by Transpower as part of the Energising Queenstown initiative. These projects will help deliver sustainable energy solutions for the region.
“This new office reflects our commitment to growth, customer service, and innovation. It’s a space designed to help us deliver on our strategic priorities and stay connected to the communities we serve. It also offers flexibility for our staff by providing another option for where they can work,” Mr Fletcher said.
The office is located on the first floor of the Forsyth Barr Building in Frankton. Aurora Energy’s head office is in Dunedin, with additional satellite offices in Cromwell and Christchurch.
