RE: A ferry good discussion

December 9 2019

I have been using the ferry service every day to commute to work since the changed service launched with Go Orange last year. Amazing service that is faster than driving to town, more convenient, more relaxing and hassle free. More Kelvin Heights locals need to support this service. Bay view has free 12hour parking and plenty of it, it is also right on the trail to be able to bike or walk along the lake to get to the jetty. The bus takes forever when connecting from Frankton to town and the schedule is not lined up properly to get commuters to town at the right time of day. Not great at all. We need people out of their cars and to encourage more use of our biggest resource. The Lake!

Support the ferry service, write an email to ORC.

Take The Lake!

Long time reader first time writer, the basis of my whinge comes from those whom have come to make NZ their temporary or permanent home, im born and bred in Aotearoa and have never experienced a xmas other than what I know, hot, warm, sunny, long evening xmas's, on the beach, backyard cricket, touch rugby, sunburn, Rose, suntan, that’s all I know and I love it. As of late the amount of moaning and groaning from anyone north of the equator is nothing more than negativity, about why its not xmas or why its different or not right, top 5 moans I hear on a daily basis more than once a day both at work and also from friends are:
    1. Its to hot to be xmas this isn’t right. Its absolutely right in NZ, also once the 1 day is over im sure you enjoy the long evenings and warmish weather for the other 59 days.
    2. Kiwis don’t get into the xmas spirit and don’t do xmas very well. Not sure what well is, but I have tons of fun opening presents with my son and enjoy the over indulging.
    3. It just doesn’t feel like xmas here. Well you can always go to a place that feels like xmas. Ps. Its only 1 day out of 365.
    4. You cant even see the xmas lights at night cause it doesn’t get dark till late. OMG.
    5. You need to go to the UK/USA/Canada etc….. and experience a Christmas there, then you’ll see what areal xmas is.

People travel to experience new things, not the same things, so before throwing out shades of negativity, think of those that believe that santa clause rode in on a surf board instead of a sleigh, I know its not the all out full banged up xmas a lot of people are use to, but this is Aotearoa and how we do it, so, crank out the rakuraku (guitar), sing a few waiata (Te Iwi E) and embrace our differences which is what makes NZ so special.

    Mauri Ora Whanau.

To whoever operates and runs orbus bus company, I have a gripe. Many times I have almost been at the bus stop around 20 metres and I flag you down sprinting but you guys don’t bother stopping ( knowing that I would be there before you actually stop the bus ). Yes this is my fault, HOWEVER I’m always early, back home buses would wait at every stop until it’s time to go. Not just Stanley and Frankton. Why do you drive past 6-7 minutes early without giving us a chance to get there? If my bus is supposed to be there at 32 minutes past I want it there at that time. Are you guys so desperate to get to the end of your line so you can sit on your phone or have a ciggie? #wusbankers

I would like to no why the council is bringing in Lime Scooters, when they have been band from Auckland, because of safety issues, it is hard enough trying to avoid people on skateboard's + bikes, i seen Auckland they are left lying around taking up lots of the footpath, look untidy, why would you bring these in to our beautiful town.
