Outages with Aurora.

November 25 2019

Aurora Energy’s proposal to charge their customers hundreds of millions to repair their transmission infrastructure is amazing. Dunedin CC (the quasi owners ) are passing the buck with a paltry offer of help. The Commerce Commission is still to finalise its findings into their lack of maintenance on their network over many years, which may end with a fine of 2 million dollars. Is this another cost to be added? I was a Powernet customer for 15+years and had 3 unplanned power outages - I have lived in Arrowtown (Aurora) for 13 months now and have had 13 unplanned outages Aurora has 90,000 users, Dunedin has 130000 citizens, why aren’t they all using Aurora? Queenstown has a pop of 15000 many with Powernet-bet they don’t have outages AND they get a yearly refund of at least $130 every September. The best thing would be to use a a small portion of the proposed price hike to encourage Aurora ((DCC) to sell up to Powernet,as its already in parts of Queenstown and surrounds and I’m sure they would love to increase their coverage if allowed (at present Aurora wont allow them). That would be a win for all!

It is straight out mis-appropriation of money.....consumers (customers) payed their power bills over the past ten or so years, on the understanding that a percentage of that money went towards upgrades of power systems etc....what actually happened was that "upgrade money" was used to pay huge salaries of the bosses, as well as paying dividends to the DCC (so they could re route that money to the defect coffers caused by the huge stadium shortfall) well as new staff cars and trucks etc....everything BUT what it was meant mis-appropriation.....the whole matter should be handed over to the serious fraud squad for a serious inquiry.....but the chances of that are about nil.....hence they get away with it again, and we the silent majority get shafted as per these CEOs and upper management staff get paid their huge salaries beggars belief.....some of them are out and out I say, they will get away with it.....shame on them
