Notta lotta Ramada parking.
September 9 2019
I live in Frankton, behind the Ramada Hotel, and have noticed there is not much free parking available there. On the apartment complex I’m based we have one carpark spot available per apartment. In some cases this is not enough - i.e- Rental . There are few parking spots around the area but with a 90 minute allowance, meaning you could get a fine if you leave your car there for the entire day – not ideal at all. The other option is the paid carpark just next to the complex. Of course paying for an extra parking spot is alright, but not when the cost would be over $200 per month, specially on top of the quite pricey rent. So I would like to understand what other options we have, or if there is a better plan for the residents of this area?
Getting fined for living.
Response: In this district, where cars have become part of a wider traffic problem, providing more resident carparks is not a good environmental solution. While the apartment building referred to was not built by Remarkables Park Ltd (RPL), it is less than 70 metres from a bus stop serviced by the $2 bus and has easy connections to the trails network, so other good transport options are available. RPL is continuing to work on more and better public transport services, including ferry and gondola connections.
As more apartments, offices and other work and education places are built at Remarkables Park we envisage more residents being able to manage their lives with fewer private vehicle trips.
If the writer wants to park an extra car, RPL offers discounted rates for long-term parking (6 & 12 months) at our Hawthorne Drive carpark.
