Black Friday

December 3 2018

Am I the only one confused as to why little old New Zealand is now being inundated with Black Friday sales?

I love a good sale as much as the next person, but it seems very strange that Kiwi businesses far and wide are all partaking in a very American sales day.

Black Friday follows Thanksgiving, something which is not celebrated here in New Zealand, it’s a massive shopping day much like Boxing Day here. But why are we following suit, when Thanksgiving has no meaning to us what so ever??

It seems business here will try anything just to get us through the door. Even if it’s a random sales day at the end of November.

Yes Black Friday is an American sale, as is Cyber Monday (which follows on after Black Friday). The reason Kiwi businesses are catching on to this idea, as are many other countries around the globe, is because we can shop online and access these fantastic sales in America and have our bargains posted here.
In order to compete with the online shoppers buying from USA, local businesses are catching on and offering us great deals.
I think it's a fantastic idea, and a great way to kick off Christmas shopping.
